The Blossom Mental Health Fund is the registered non-profit arm of The RepresentASIAN Project focused on supporting the mental health of Asian Canadians.
Asians are less likely to access mental health services compared to other ethnic groups, due to cultural stigma, lack of culturally competent care and discrimination.
Our mission is to destigmatize mental health within Asian diasporic communities by creating mental health content and resources that reflect cultural nuances and providing grants to those facing financial barriers to therapy.
Our team is made up of Asian Canadian mental health professionals and seasoned content editors and creators, all of whom have personal experiences with mental health, and who are committed to creating content and resources that are accessible and engaging to highlight the importance of mental health and wellness in the Asian community. We recognize the power of storytelling—how it can bring us together, provide a sense of community and belonging, and remind us we are not alone.
The Blossom Mental Health Fund is a space to collectively come together to share our experiences and work towards growth in healing.
This is where our stories bloom.
OUR PILLARS
THERAPY GRANTS
The Blossom Mental Health Fund is committed to making psychotherapy as accessible as possible for Asian Canadians.
Through our therapy grants program, we aim to provide funding to Asian Canadians facing financial barriers to therapy.
The program operates primarily on the basis of individual needs, with a team of mental health experts selecting applicants for grants. Those selected will have the opportunity to choose from a pre-selected group of culturally competent therapists and receive funding for a portion of their therapy journey.
Note: Our grants program is currently on pause. Please check back for updates.
STORIES
Storytelling plays a vital role in normalizing mental health within Asian communities, serving as a powerful tool to foster understanding, compassion, and combat stigmas.
By shedding light on the challenges faced by Asian individuals grappling with mental health issues, storytelling helps to dismantle cultural taboos and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.
Through storytelling, Asian communities can cultivate a supportive environment that encourages individuals to prioritize their well-being and seek the necessary assistance and resources. By embracing mental health narratives, we can foster a positive and inclusive dialogue, ultimately nurturing a society where mental health is seen as an integral part of overall well-being within Asian communities.
